JAMES GARNER...HOLLYWOOD GOOD-LOOKING NICE GUY DIES

I  WELL  REMEMBER  1957  [I  WAS  15]  IN  ENGLAND,  WHEN  THE  COWBOY  SERIES  "MAVERICK"  CAME  ON  TV  EACH  WEEK.

A  COUPLE  OF  BUDDY  GUYS  FIGHTING  FOR  RIGHT  AGAINST  WRONG.

ONE  OF  THE  GUYS  WAS  GOOD-LOOKING  JAMES  GARNER.

SO  STARTED  THE  FAME  OF  JAMES  GARNER  THAT  COVERED  THE  NEXT  DECADES  RIGHT  UP  TO  HIS  OLD  AGE,  IN  GREAT  MOVIES  LIKE  "THE  NOTE  BOOK"  AND   OTHERS.

YOU  NEVER  HEARD  THROUGH  THOSE  DECADES  ANY  DIRT  ABOUT  JAMES  G.  HE  WAS  IN  REAL  LIFE  A  DOWN-TO-EARTH  NICE  GUY,  WHO  IT  IS  SAID  HE  NEVER  TOOK  HIMSELF  TOO  SERIOUSLY,  AND  WHEN  ASKED  HOW  HE  WANTED  TO  BE  REMEMBERED,  PAUSED,  THOUGHT,  AND  SAID,  "WITH  A  SMILE."

HERE'S  AN  INTERESTING  STORY  ABOUT  JAMES  G.  AND  FAMOUS  JULIE  ANDREWS  OF  "SOUND  OF  MUSIC"  FAME.

SHE  WAS  BEING  INTERVIEWED  SOME  YEARS  AGO  AND  ACTING  WITH  JAMES  G.  CAME  UP.  NOW  THIS  IS  WHEN  SHE  AND  JAMES  WERE  STILL  QUITE  YOUNG,  AND  JAMES  STILL  VERY  GOOD  LOOKING.

JULIE  SAID,  "I  WAS  TO  DO  A  SCENE  WITH  HIM,  WHERE  WE  WERE  TO  KISS.  I  SAID  TO  MYSELF,  OKAY,  I  CAN  DO  THIS...... BUT  WHEN  HE   KISSED  ME  I  FELT  LIKE  BUTTER,  I  JUST  MELTED  AND  WENT  WEAK,  LIKE  WEAK  IN  THE  KNEES."

JAMES G.  SAID  HE  WAS  NEVER  LOOKING  TO  BE  A  SUPER  STAR.  HE  SAID,  "WHEN  YOU  ARE  AT  THE  TOP  YOU  HAVE  NOWHERE  TO  GO  BUT  DOWN. I'D  LIKE  TO  JUST  STAY  IN  THERE  LEVEL,  AND  HAVE  LONGEVITY."

HE  WAS  MARRIED  TO  ONE  WIFE..... THAT'S  UNIQUE  IN  HOLLYWOOD.

JAMES  GARNER  WAS  8  YEARS  YOUNGER  THAN  MY  DAD,  SO  THAT  WOULD  HAVE  MADE  HIM  ABOUT  86  WHEN  HE  DIED  TODAY,  THE  SAME  AGE  IN  DEATH,  AS  ANOTHER  GOOD-LOOKING  NICE  GUY  COWBOY  DIED,  THE  KING  OF  THE  COWBOYS  ROY  ROGERS.

YA  THERE  WERE  GOOD-LOOKING  NICE  GUYS  ALL  THEIR  LIFE,  THAT  CAME  OUT  OF  HOLLYWOOD..... JAMES  GARNER  WAS  ONE  OF  THEM.

THANKS  JAMES  YOU  GAVE  US  SOME  GREAT  MEMORIES  FOR  DECADES.
