After 14 years in this apartment time to move, time to downsize, stuff we tend to collect.
The owners of the house now want the entire house, for family etc.
Well time to move up to a brighter apartment; this one has served me well for 14 years, comfortable yes, but not the brightest for large windows, so going for something that will give me more sunshine is a good thing.
Met a retired lady 17 years ago when I first came to Calgary, who told me she specifically retired in Calgary from another part of Canada. I asked her the reasons for so choosing Calgary. "Well," she said, "I wanted to live in the town with the most sunshine, and going on the Internet, it was Calgary, top of the list in Canada for most yearly sunshine."
I told her I did not know that, and I was actually surprised to hear it.
So Calgary has lots of sunshine; so an apartment with more sunlight will be great.
Talking about Calgary, there is another noted stat I came to know about 5 years ago - Calgary is the "hail" capital of the world - yes the world not just Canada or North America, but the hail capital of the world. The "insurance" companies pay flying "specialty" companies to seed the clouds!!
Yes they go up and seed the clouds with whatever, so it does not hail. Now and again they miss the signs, and down comes the hail, causing great damage to homes and cars. But by and large we get very little hail, because they are busy seeding the clouds!
So Calgary is famous for more than the biggest money winning Rodeo in the world - the Calgary Stampede - which starts July 3 for 10 days; they come from all around the world to see the Stampede Rodeo and of course the great Canadian Rockies only one hour west of the city.
You in the USA, the Canadian dollar is a good price for you, about 80 cents compared to the USA dollar, hence a real good time to come and visit us up here; many great places of beauty and wonder.
