COMING OF JESUS - RESURRECTION - DAY OF PENTECOST???

THE COMING OF CHRIST - THE RESURRECTION - PENTECOST???

                                 by

                                                  Keith Hunt

There is one man in particular in the Sabbath/Feast Days of God,  churches that teaches, the resurrection of the saints will be on the day of Pentecost, hence the coming of Christ in glory will be on Pentecost; so the resurrection of saints and the return of Jesus will be on the same day. Well so this man teaches. And so some are also believing this teaching.

This we shall see from the Scriptures Jesus' coming and the resurrection of saints takes place TOGETHER, that is indeed true.

GO TO MATTHEW 24.

Talking about the return of Christ and the signs as a one, two, three, to Jesus' return, we read in verse 21 about the great tribulation, greater than has ever been in the history of mankind,  so great if not shortened no human flesh would survive [v.22].

There will be great deception, so great that IF possible even the very elect would be deceived. Some will claim Jesus is over there, or out yonder. We are told not to believe it [v. 26].

Jesus gives us how He will return-- like lightening shining from the east to the west-- fast and clearly seen [v. 27].

THEN note these words:

29 “Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’[b]

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[c] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory."

I submit it is easy to understand these words, they say what they mean and mean what they say. THEN NOTE--

31 "And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other."

At this time when Jesus returns, He sends forth His angels, and they gather His elect from one end of heaven to the other.

This is the resurrection of saints. The saint's resurrection from physical to spirit, to immortality, takes place when Jesus returns. Easy to understand. As a kid of 12, 13, 14, reading Matthew 24, I understood the clear meaning here-- the saints, the children of the Father, will be in the resurrection to glory at Jesus' return. The angels go forth  and gather them to Christ. The angels go forth to gather at the sound of the great trumpet [v. 31]. A child I submit can understand those verses.

We shall see later how other Scriptures also proclaim, the trumpet sound, the resurrection of saints, the coming of Christ Jesus. All three events go together.

NOW NOITE THIS, MARK IT--

36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father."

AH there it is,  another easy to understand verse. Simple, I understood it at age 12 when I read it.

NO ONE, not a single person can know WHEN Jesus will return. It is ONLY the FATHER that can know that day. Not even Jesus knows it, only the Father can know it.

Anyone who claims they know the day of Jesus' return, is contradicting this verse. They are not believing this Scripture. They do not believe the inspired word of God. They set themselves up as knowing more than Christ.

Do you see the heresy, yes I will be bold to call it heresy, anyone who claims to know more than Christ, more than what He clearly taught us, is speaking, teaching doctrines opposed to Jesus.  And yes that is plain heresy.

Note more--

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."

Again Jesus tells us we can not know the day or the hour of the day when He will come, when He will return.

Nothing could be more upfront, more simpler to understand. Anyone coming along and telling you they know the day of Jesus' return and the resurrection of the saints, is going contrary to the very words of Christ, and that should make you shake in your boots.

Many people in the last three hundred years have taught they knew better than Jesus, they came up with different years, different months, different days, and taught Jesus would return on a certain day. The years, the months, the days went by and they and their followers had egg all over their faces.

NO ONE CAN KNOW THE DAY OF JESUS' RETURN!  SO SAYS JESUS HIMSELF!

How many times dose Jesus have to tell us? Why once should be  enough.

But again the words of Christ--

Chapter 25 verse 13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."

Those who claim Jesus and the resurrection of saints will be on Pentecost, are so WRONG, so against the teaching of Christ, it blows my mind how some could ever believe they know the day of His return.

Go over to the gospel of Mark--

14 “So when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ [f]spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house. 16 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 17 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 18 And pray that your flight may not be in winter. 19 For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be. 20 And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

21 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, He is there!’ do not believe it. 22 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the[g]elect. 23 But take heed; see, I have told you all things beforehand.

The Coming of the Son of Man

24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27 And then He will send His angels, and gather together His [h]elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.

The Parable of the Fig Tree

28 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that [i]it is near—at the doors! 30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

No One Knows the Day or Hour

32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!"

ONCE MORE IT IS CLEAR. YOU CAN NOT KNOW THE DAY OR THE TIME OF DAY JESUS WILL RETURN.

Go to John 14

1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many [a]mansions; if it were not so, [b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

When Jesus comes He receives us to Himself. That where He is we shall be also.

We have seen the Gospels tell us the angels go forth and gather the elect together. The saints will the with Christ, at His coming.

ACTS 2

We have the  coming of the Holy Spirit on the feast day of Pentecost. It is as we say the birthday of the New Testament Church of God. But nowhere in this section of Acts does it connect Pentecost with the resurrection of saints at the coming of Christ in glory. In Peter's sermon he does not connect  the resurrection and coming of Christ with Pentecost. He does say Jesus has been resurrected and back in heaven till the restitution of all things.

Pentecost is to do with the Church, as ongoing in this age to the coming of Christ. Yes the Church is the first-fruits of God. The barley and wheat harvest. That harvest does go on throughout this age to the time of Jesus' return. But no where does it say that ingathering of that harvest, the resurrection of saints to immortality is on the feast day of Pentecost.  Jesus has made it plain in the Gospels [which we should read first in becoming a Christian] that NO PERSON KNOWS THE DAY OF HIS RETURN.

I was brought up in a Church school [the Anglican Church] and we read the Gospels first when we started to read the New Testament and rightly so. I read what Jesus taught in the Gospels that ONLY the Father knew the day of Jesus' return. Hence I never in my wildest dreams thought Jesus would return and the resurrection of saints would be on the day of Pentecost.

1 CORINTHIANS 15

Our Final Victory

50  "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory.”

The whole chapter is to do with a resurrection  to glory,  to spirit form, to immortality, to a change from human to divine. Those asleep in death will be resurrected;  those alive in the flesh will be changed. Indeed a resurrection to immortal glory, whether dead or alive.
And it will be at THE LAST TRUMP!
Jesus told us in Matthew 24 a trumpet would sound and the angels would go and gather the saints. Surely this section by Paul is talking about the same resurrection; the saints brought to Christ and be with Him for ever more [John 14].

The book of Revelation talks about 7 trumpet sounds. Turn to chapter 11 and verse 15.
"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever."
Surely this is the return of Christ in glory, and He shall be king over all the earth.
And we have seen at His return the resurrection of the saints will take place.
There is nothing here to tie Pentecost with Christ's coming, and the resurrection of the saints.

1 THESSALONIANS 4
The Comfort of Christ’s Coming

13"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus."

HOW will He bring them with Him; Paul goes on to say--

15 "For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18Therefore comfort one another with these words."

The Lord will descend from heaven with a SHOUT! With the voice of an archangel,  and the TRUMPET of God. THEN the resurrection of saints takes place. This we have ALREADY SEEN in the Scripture verses already covered.
It should be all simple to understand when you put Scripture with Scripture.

There is no connection here with the day of Pentecost. All the verses to do with the second coming of Christ,  the resurrection of the saints, have no bearing on the feast day of Pentecost. Not one single writer of the New Testament EVER COMES CLOSE to  the coming of Jesus, the resurrection of saints, with the day of Pentecost.

REVELATION 19

6   "And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! 7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

9 Then he said to me, Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' And he said to me, 'These are the true sayings of God.'10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

The Rider on the White Horse

11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. "

Here we have the coming of Christ, and the marriage supper of the saints to Jesus at His coming.

It is a slight detail of the saints with Christ on His return. It is a marriage feast  they will have together.

Some who teach this will all take place on the feast day of Trumpets, argue that Jesus will take from Pentecost to Trumpets to give out the rewards and jobs to the thousands of saints gathered there before Christ Jesus.

They forget the power of God, and the mind of God. He created all the land animals and insects around the world in ONE DAY!

SURELY He can send out the jobs to do for each saint in that same one day time.

Technically we are not told the time frame of Jesus giving out the rewards and jobs to the now immortal saints. We are told  He will bring  the saints their reward when He comes again, but the time frame for handing them out is not told us.

We should not put our own ideas into the plans of God, when He has not given us the time frames, of doing what He will do after He has returned.

WE HAVE SEEN FROM JESUS HIMSELF AND THE FIRST BOOKS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT,  THAT SHOULD BE READ FIRST, THAT JESUS PLAINLY TAUGHT NO HUMAN PERSON, NO ANGEL, AND NOT EVEN HIMSELF, KNOWS THE DAY, OR THE TIME OF DAY, THAT HE WILL RETURN.

JESUS TAUGHT THAT ONLY THE FATHER KNOWS THE DAY WHEN HE WILL SEND BACK OUR SAVIOR AND ELDER BROTHER, TO REIGN ON EARTH FOR THE AGE TO COME.
