HERE IN CALAGRY WE STILL HAVE ONE MOVIE HOUSE THAT EVERY SUNDAY THROUGH THE SUMMER, SHOWS ONE OF THE OLD MOVIES FROM WAY BACK.
THIS SUNDAY IT WAS THE MUSICAL COMEDY "SOME LIKE IT HOT" THAT IN ITS DAY WAS A BIG BOX OFFICE HIT.
IT STARS MARILYN MONROE, TONY CURTIS, AND JACK LEMMON.
NOW MOST SUNDAYS FEW TRUN OUT TO SEE THE OLD MOVIES. I'VE BEEN TO 3 OR 4 OF THEM, AND ONLY A DOZEN OR SO PEOPLE HAVE BEEN THERE.
THIS TIME AROUND THE THEATER WAS ABOUT HALF FULL.
I HAVE THE MOVIE ON DVD BUT THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT SEEING IT ON THE BIG SCREEN.
IT REALLY SHOWS THE TALENT OF ITS THREE MAIN STARS - MARILYN, TONY, AND JACK.
APPARENTLY THIS WAS THE MOVIE MARILYN MADE AFTER COMING BACK FROM ENGLAND, MAKING THERE THE MOVIE THAT WAS NOT A BIG HIT IN NORTH AMERICA "THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL" WITH SIR LAURENCE OLIVIER.
MARILYN SINGS THREE SONGS IN "SOME LIKE IT HOT" AND ALL THESE YEARS LATER MANY PEOPLE WERE HOT FOR SOME LIKE IT HOT. OH AND THERE WAS CLAPPING FROM PEOPLE AFTER THE MOVIE, INCLUDING ME. GREAT OLD DAYS WITH MARILYN MONROE, TONY CURTIS, AND JACK LEMMON. JUST GOOD CLEAN FUNNY MOVIES WITH MUSIC THROWN IN.
......
A VERY RECENT EARLY MOVIE I BOUGHT WAS ONE OF MARILYN'S EARLY MOVIES; THE 1952 MAKE OF "CLASH BY NIGHT." SHE WAS NOT THE LEADING LADY [ THAT WAS BARBARA STANWYCK ] BUT SHOWS HER EARLY TALENT AT ACTING.
A NICE "LOVE" MOVIE; A LADY RETURNS HOME AFTER AN OBVIOUS PAINFUL LIFE AWAY, JUST NOT FINDING LIFE TOO THRILLING. AND THEN SHE FINDS TRUE LOVE IN AN UNEXPECTED PLACE, WITH AN UNEXPECTED MAN, YET NOT ALL SMOOTH, BUT SHE LEARNS TO ADMIT HOW IT MAKE IT SMOOTH.
A NICE LOVE MOVIE, AND ONE OF THE GOOD MOVIE STARTS FOR MARILYN MONROE; SHE'S IN QUITE A NUMBER OF SCENES, AND HANDLES HERSELF VERY WELL FOR THE PART SHE PLAYS.
