WE  NOW  MOVE  INTO  THE  BOOK  OF  EXODUS----

SIMPLE  TO  READ  THE  FIRST  11  CHAPTERS.  INTERESTING  THAT  MOSES  SAID  TO  GOD  HE  WAS  NOT  MUCH  OF  A  SPEAKER,  SO  GOD  TOLD  MOSES  HE  WOULD  USE  AARON  TO  SPEAK.  BUT  MOST,  WELL  ALL  MOVIES  I'VE  SEEN  ON  THIS,  ALWAYS  HAVE  MOSES  DOING  THE  SPEAKING..... SUCH  IS  MOVIE  LICENSE.

THERE  IS  LITTLE  TO  COMMENT  ON  THROUGH  THE  FIRST  ELEVEN  CHAPTERS.  PRETTY  PLAIN  READING.

NOW  WE  COME  TO  THE  12TH  CHAPTER  AND  THAT  IS  A  WHOLE  NEW  BALL  GAME---- THE  PASSOVER!

SO  WE  SHALL  BE  IN  THE  PASSOVER  QUESTION  FOR  SOME  TIME.  IT  BRINGS  UP  ALL  KINDS  OF  QUESTIONS.  BECAUSE  THERE  CAN  BE  MANY  QUESTIONS  FROM  THE  OLD  TESTAMENT  INTO  THE  NEW  TESTAMENT.  THEN  ALL  THE  THINGS  THAT  THE  JEWS  DO..... AND  FOR  MANY  IT  CAN  BE  PUZZLING  INDEED.

SO  I  WILL  ANSWER  ALL  THE  INS  AND  OUTS  OF  THE  PASSOVER  QUESTION.

SO  HERE  WE  GO------  FIRST  A  LITTLE  LEADING  UP.

Chronology of Exodus 12 to 16

Throw away the Charts!

                    CHRONOLOGY OF THE ISRAELITE EXODUS

                                            (Exodus 12 to 16)

                                           by

                                     Keith Hunt

I have seen over the last number of decades a few pretty
fancy charts and outlines, from people trying to put together a
day by day CHRONOLOGY of the Israelites coming out of Egypt -
chapters of Exodus 12 through to 16.

Such "chronologists" have spent HOURS and hours figuring it
all out. Most of them have been from the Churches that DO observe
the Festivals of Leviticus 23. They somehow want to "fit" the
Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread, and some even Pentecost,
into this nice neat framework of dates and days, to give I guess,
more credence to those Festivals of the Lord.

It has been a complete WASTE of time for them. They would
have been better to have spent their time on other studies, than
this chronology stuff about the chapters of Exodus 12 to 16. They
have been day dreaming, and doing back flips and juggling tricks,
to make those events of Exodus 12 to 16 "fit in" with their
ideas, that to them will add weight to the observance of the
Festivals of God.
The FESTIVALS of the Lord DO NOT NEED SUCH jig-saw puzzles
of chronology to establish them as God's Festivals that should be
observed by His people today!!

Such chronologers have MISSED the simple points of Exodus 12
to 16.

Now, dear reader, you take out your Bible and read from
Exodus 12 through to 16:1.

Have you seen it? It is pretty simple!

Exodus 12 is the Passover ON the 14th of the month, the
first month. The Israelites reach the wilderness of Sin, ON the
15TH DAY of the SECOND MONTH!

WITHIN FOUR CHAPTERS we have covered ONE MONTH AND ONE DAY!!

Now, go back and read through once more, very carefully,
noting the places the Israelites pitched their tents, to stay a
while.
Exodus 12:37 - They left Rameses and pitched at Succoth,
which is just a Hebrew word for "booth" or "tent."

The next we are told is in chapter 13 and verse 20. They
moved from Succoth to Etham, by the edge of the wilderness.

Then it's chapter 14 and verse one. They are to encamp
before Pihahiroth, over against Baalzephon; by it they were to
camp over against the sea.

Pharaoh and his army are coming after them, is the rest of
chapter 14. The children of Israel do go through the Red sea by
NIGHT and in the morning watch, and when the morning is appearing
the Egyptians try to flee but are drowned in the Red sea.

We are at chapter 15. We have singing and praises for God
and His mighty power. Moses brings the Israelites through and out
of the Red sea, and to the wilderness of Shur - verse 22. They go
THREE DAYS JOURNEY in the wilderness - verse 22. They get to
Marah, verse 23. They had no water. They come to Elim and there
is water, and they camp, verse 27.

They pick up and come to "the wilderness of sin" which is
between Elim and Sinai - ON THE 15TH DAY OF THE **SECOND**
MONTH!!

It should be pretty easy and plain to see that FROM THE 14TH
OF THE FIRST MONTH (PASSOVER DAY) - CHAPTER 12; RIGHT TO CHAPTER
16:1 IS ONE WHOLE MONTH PLUS ONE DAY!

Now, it has to be either they stopped in those places way
MORE than ONE day, or there were OTHER places they pitched their
tents that we are NOT TOLD ABOUT. Then I suppose it could be
possible it was BOTH!

FURTHER PROOF

You want a little more to back up what we have just read?
Turn to Numbers 33 and you will find it.

Look at verse 3. Ah, it tells us clearly the Israelites
DEPARTED FROM RAMESES on the 15TH OF THE FIRST MONTH!

They moved from Rameses and pitch at Succoth - verse 5.

They departed from Succoth and pitched at Etham, on the edge
of the wilderness - verse 6.

They removed from Etham, and turned to Pihahiroth, and they
pitched at Migdol - verse 7.

They departed from Pihahiroth, and PASSED THROUGH THE MIDST
OF THE SEA INTO THE WILDERNESS, AND WENT THREE DAYS JOURNEY IN
THE WILDERNESS OF ETHAM AND PITCH AT MIRAH - verse 8.

They left Mirah and CAME UNTO ELIM, where there was water -
verse 9!

They moved from Elim and encamped by the Red sea - verse 10.

They removed from the Red sea and encamped in the wilderness
of Sin - verse 11.

NOW THAT HAS BROUGHT US BACK AGAIN TO EXODUS 16:1.

HOW SIMPLE IT IS! FROM THE PASSOVER ON THE 14TH DAY OF THE
FIRST MONTH, TO THE DAY THEY ARRIVE IN THE WILDERNESS OF SIN,
TOOK ONE WHOLE MONTH AND ONE DAY! They got to the wilderness of
Sin, on the 15th day of the SECOND month - Exodus 16:1.

We are told SO LITTLE, just about NOTHING, of the
"chronological" day times of this period of time - one month and
one day. We are told the Passover was on the 14th day of the
first month. We are told they left Rameses on the 15th day of the
first month. We are told they crossed the Red sea by night. We
are told they did a three day journey into the wilderness.

     AND THAT IS IT FRIENDS!!

It is NOT POSSIBLE - it was NEVER INTENDED by the Lord - for
us to KNOW THE EXACT DAYS OF LENGTH THEY PITCHED THEIR TENTS AT
ANY ONE OF THE LOCATIONS MENTIONED.

If you want to say they only pitched at each location
mentioned to us, for only one night. Then ACCORDING TO NUMBERS
33, you get a total of SEVEN or EIGHT DAYS, to reaching the
wilderness of Sin! And that has to include a three days journey
into the wilderness mentioned to us. So you could extend it all
to 10 or 11 days, to reach the wilderness of Sin.

BUT IT'S NOT POSSIBLE to figure it that way, as we see
CLEARLY from Exodus 16:1 that it took the Israelites ONE MONTH
AND ONE DAY (from the 14th of the first month to the 15th of the
second month) to reach the wilderness of Sin!

THROW THE CHARTS AWAY, THROW THE DIAGRAMS AWAY FOLKS! It is
just not possible to figure the chronology of Exodus 12 through
to chapter 16:1.

AND FURTHER - IT DOES NOT MATTER - THE FESTIVALS OF THE LORD
ARE NOT ESTABLISHED UPON CHRONOLOGY!

The Foods for Israel

During the 40 years in the Wilderness

Some have the idea that all Israel had to eat for their
wandering in the wilderness for 40 years under Moses, was "manna"
- bread type substance, and water (from rocks) - both a miracle
from God, but just the bare bread and water type jail sentence,
for being so faithless and rebellious.

That idea is just not true at all!

I've just re-watched "The Ten Commandments" with old one
from the 1950s with Charlton Heston as Moses. The scene where
Israel was leaving Egypt was RIGHT ON as far as the various
things they left with. Take note next time you watch that movie.
Besides all the gold, silver, jewels, cloth, and many other fancy
things, you will notice they left with HERDS and FLOCK, BIRDS,
much LIVESTOCK! And so it is written: "And Pharaoh rose up in the
night ... And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said,
"Rise up, and get you forth from among my people ... ALSO take
your FLOCKS and your HERDS..." (Exodus 11:30-32).

There it is, but many read right over it, because we have
become so used to hearing how God fed Israel with manna for 40
years. But the manna was the flour cereal for bread and cakes, the
"grain" part of their diet we could say (Exodus 16).

Yes God did provide them with water, sometimes like a
miracle, as many see in Exodus 17.

Israel was to build a "tabernacle" or "sanctuary" (Exodus
25:8). It was not just to have as an ornament, tagging along with
them, just kinda doing nothing except a dwelling place for God.
We read about the tabernacle from Exodus 25 through to 27. Then
the Priesthood is established as we begin to read chapter 28.
Look at verses 4-6. We see no shortage of robes, braided
coats, girdles, gold, blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen. Not only
did they have to have the materials for all this, but the craft-
persons to make it as God instructed.
Now under chapter 29 and the consecration of the priests,
read the first verses. Ah, a young BULLOCK, two RAMS, were to be
taken. UNLEAVENED BREAD, CAKES, with OIL, FROM WHEATEN FLOUR! So
they still had flour with them at this point in time. Notice
verse 38-41, two LAMBS were to be offered EVERY DAY!

Notice Exodus 35:20-29. Israel was not short of not only
jewelry (which yes they got from the Egyptians when leaving
Egypt), but they also had blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen,
goat's hair, red skins of rams, and badger skins. They had spice
and oil. Not destitute in material things for sure.

Now you can read Leviticus, the first five or so chapters.
All that was needed for the various sacrifices, yes in the
wilderness, offerings from the CATTLE, of the HERD, and of the
FLOCK! This was all done under Aaron, who is mentioned in verse 5
of chapter one.
The "consecration" of Aaron and his sons is in chapter 8,
and note verses, 9,18,21,28, just for a few.

Purification after childbirth is in chapter 12 of Leviticus.
If a LAMB was not able to be brought, then two young PIGEONS
could be brought. Israel had to have BIRDS among them during the
40 years in the wilderness.

You can read about the all the offerings for daily, Sabbath,
and Festival in Numbers 28 through 28. Note these verses in
chapter 28; verses 3-4, 11-15, 19, 27. In chapter 29; verses 2,
8, 13, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 36.

STOP AND THINK!

For all those herds, cattle, flocks, you need FOOD! Yes,
animals have to eat also to live. Did God work fantastic miracles
to feed all those animals the Israelites had? Of course He could
have done. But we are not told if He did! A more likely method
for providing all that the Israelites needed in a balanced diet
for themselves to stay healthy, and for all their flocks, is what
we find in one verse, hidden away (not really) ... well missed by
most people reading the books of Moses (if there are any
Christians reading the books of Moses any more) is found in
Deuteronomy 2:6.

"You shall BUY meat (food) of them for money, that you may eat;
and you shall buy WATER of them for money, that you may drink."

Here Israel was to go through the land given to Esau, mount
Seir, as we see from the previous verses.

There it is! Israel was able to buy foods and water from
various people along their 40 year journey in the wilderness.

ISRAEL'S COMPLAINING

So what about Israel complaining about not have meat to eat,
and we have the famous "quail" story of Exodus 16. Pretty simple
to answer. They obvious wanted flesh meat at every meal, once a
week just was not pleasing to them, they wanted it all the time,
they lusted after it, they were way overboard in what they wanted
to consume as far as flesh meat was concerned.

Other things? Yes, they did want some of the pleasant foods
of Egypt, we see that in Numbers 11:5, "We remember the fish ...
the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and the garlic." Then we
have the verse that has led many to believe they only had "manna"
to eat for 40 years, "But now our soul is dried away: there is
nothing at all, besides this manna, before our eyes" (verse 6).

We need to remember when studying the Bible what saying or
words are coming from whom. If Satan would say, "There is no sin,
I'm not responsible for sin." Would that make it so? No, not at
all. So the record of the people of Israel saying there was
nothing but manna to eat, did not make it so!

Yes, Israel may not have enjoyed the "foods and fruits from
afar" as they had done in Egypt, but they had more than just
manna and water.

We have seen Israel did have other foods to eat and did have
meat flesh from their herds and flocks and cattle.

The truth of the matter is that Israel did COME INTO CONTACT
WITH other peoples during their 40 years wandering, and they had
opportunity to buy from them different foods and grain, for
themselves and their cattle. They were not a bunch of dusty
desert wanderers living only on bread and water.

                           .....................

SIMPLE  PASSOVER  FIGURED

IF  YOU  ARE  A  CHILD,  SAY  ABOUT  10, 11, 12,  AND  YOU  READ  GENESIS  ONE  YOU  KNOW  THAT  GOD  STARTS  DAYS  IN  THE  EVENING--- SIMPLE.

NOTHING  CHANGES  THROUGH  GENESIS.  MOVING  INTO  EXODUS  NOTHING  CHANGES  EITHER.  GOING  INTO  EXODUS  12  NOTHING  CHANES,  STILL  AS  GENESIS  CHAPTER  ONE  FOR  BEGINNING  OF  DAYS.

NOW  WE  GET  TO  INSTRUCTIONS  ON  THE  EATING  OF  THE  PASSOVER--- THE  LAMB  IS  KEPT  UNTIL  THE  14TH  DAY,  AND  YOU  ARE  TO  KILL  IT  IN  THE  EVENING.

THERE  IT  IS---- THE  EVENING  OF  THE  14TH.

THE  DAY  BEGINS  AT  EVENING  THE  12  YEAR  OLD  WOULD  SAY  AND  NOTHING  HAS  CHANGED  FROM  GENESIS  CHAPTER  ONE.

KEEPING  THE  LAMB  UP  TO  THE  14TH,  IS  UP  TO  THE  14TH,  AND  IN  THE  EVENING  OF  THE  14TH,  IT  WAS  TO  BE  KILLED  AND  EATEN.

PRETTY  SIMPLE  I  WOULD  SAY,  SO  WOULD  OUR  10  OR  12  YEAR  OLD.  NO  PHD  OF  THEOLOGY  NEEDED!

WHAT  COULD  BE  MORE  SIMPLE?

WITH  THAT  VERY  SIMPLE  FACT  OF  READING  THE  BIBLE  FROM  GENESIS  ONE  TO  EXODUS  12,  WE  HAVE  THE  PASSOVER  LAMB  KILLED  IN  THE  EVENING  OF  THE  14TH;  THE  14TH  HAS  ONLY  ONE  EVENING.  THAT  IS  ALL  WE  HAVE  LEARNT  FROM  GOD  FROM  GENEIS  ONE  TO  EXODUS  12: 1-6.

NOW  WITH  THAT  CLEARLY  UNDERSTOOD  WE  CAN  START  TO  WORK  ON  THE  MANY  SCRIPTURES  OF  THE  PASSOVER,  SOME  SOUNDING  LIKE  THEY  MAY  CONTRADICT  THE  CLEAR  VERSES  ON  THE  SUBJECT.

THERE  IS  MUCH  I  NEED  TO  EXPOUND  TO  ANSWER  ALL  THE  WRONG  IDEAS  CONCERNING  THE  WHEN  OF  THE  PASSOVER.

ROLL  UP  YOUR  SLEEVES  GET  READY  TO  GO.
