WAR HEROES....forgotten at Home

THE  CBC  TONIGHT  NOVEMBER  11TH.

PART  WAS  ABOUT  THIS  CANADIAN  INDIAN  MAN  IN  WORLD  WAR  ONE.

INDIANS  WERE  NOT  ALLOWED,  BUT  SOMEHOW  THIS  MAN  GOT  IN,  THROUGH  THE  RED  TAPE  OR  WHATEVERS.

THE  CHRONICLE  OF  HIS  WAR  EXPLOITS,  INJURIES,  FIGHTING  ON,  HEROISM.....THE  MOST  DECORATED  CANADIAN  IN  THAT  WAR.

JUST  UNREAL.  HUMANLY  SPEAKING,  I  WAS  AMAZED.

WHAT  HE  DID,  WHAT  HE  WENT  THROUGH.... JUST  UNREAL.

HE  THEN  CAME  BACK  TO  CANADA  AND  THE  GOVERNMENT  WANTED  HIM  TO  DISAPPEAR  INTO  THE  INDIAN  WORLD,  AS  IF  HE  NEVER  EXISTED.

HE  HAD  TO  FIGHT  FOR  HIS  PENSION.  HE  FOUGHT  FOR  INDIAN  RIGHTS.  HE  HAD  TO  FIGHT  THE  GOVERNMENT  HE  WAS  A  HERO  OF  IN  THAT  "WAR  TO  END  ALL  WARS"  -  THAT  "GREAT  WAR"  AS  THEY  ARE  NOW  CALLING  IT.

HE  FINALLY  DID  MAKE  SOME  HEADWAY  AGAINST  A  HARD-NOSED  AND  SHAMEFUL  CANADIAN  GOVERNMENT,  WHO  FINALLY  SMARTED  UP  WITH  FIRST  NATIONS  PEOPLE,  THOUGH  IT  WAS  STILL  ON-GOING  AFTER  HIS  HE  DIED  IN  HIS  EARLY  60s.

IT  WAS  THE  SAME  KIND  OF  THING  FOR  THE  AMERICAN  BLACKS  WHO  FOUGHT  VALIANTLY  IN  WW2.  MANY  BEING  DECORATED  FOR  BRAVERY.

THEY  CAME  BACK  TO  RACISM  AND  BIGOTRY  AND  HATEFULNESS  IN  TOO  MUCH  OF  THE  USA.

FOR  A  LITTLE  INSIGHT  TO  THAT  SEE  THE  RECENT  MOVIE  "42"  -  THE  JACKIE  ROBINSON  TRUE  LIFE  STORY,
