BEEN TO SEE THE MOVIE "SAVING MR. BANKS" TODAY.
THE TRUE STORY OF THE 20 YEAR TRYING ON THE PART OF WALT DISNEY TO OBTAIN THE FILM RIGHTS FROM THE AUTOR MRS. TRAVERS, WHO WROTE THE VERY POPULAR BOOK "MARY POPPINS."
IT IS CERTAINLY A VERY INTERESTING STORY.
WE SEE MR. DISNEY IN HIS HUMAN DOWN-TO-EARTH SELF, UP AGAINST A RATHER STIFF HARD-NOSED LADY TRAVERS....WELL HARD-NOSED FOR A LONG TIME, UNTIL WALT FINDS THE KEY TO HER HEART, AND FINALLY MANAGES TO PERSUADE HER [TRAVELING TO ENGLAND TO DO SO] THAT HE WILL DO JUSTICE TO HER STORY, THAT HAD MUCH TO DO WITH HER LIFE, THAT DID NOT END THE WAY HER BOOK ENDS.
SO IT IS A TOUCHING MOVIE IN MANY WAYS.
IT IS FUNNY IN OTHER WAYS.
YES OVERALL A FINE MOVIE, SHOWING US THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE MAKING OF THE "MARY POPPINS" MOVIE, AND GIVING US THE TRUE STORY OF WHY MRS. TRAVERS WROTE IT.
I GIVE IT TWO THUMBS UP.
AH YES AND ON THE PERSONAL SIDE, SURE GLAD WALT PUT ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE LADY FILM STARS IN THE MOVIE....GLYNIS JOHNS, THE GAL THAT WHEN I WAS ABOUT 8 YEARS OLD I CALLED "BABY FACE" WHEN MY MOM ASKED WE WHAT I THOUGHT OF HER [IN THE MOVIE WE'D JUST WATCHED WITH GLYNIS IN IT].
