Nothing New under the Sun

"There Is Nothing New Under the Sun."

This statement by Solomon is one of the most profound statements in the whole Bible. Many a scholar has considered the implications of this saying asking himself, "Can this be right?" This thought came to me very recently when, early in the morning, I was watching the food channel and they were displaying a documentary on a Jewish wedding with full Kosher control. I learned a lot about Rabbinical control that morning, starting I with the fact that the Jewish kitchen is maintained in a locked condition to avoid contamination by any gentile goods or appliances. This was all fine until they started talking about the special dish comprised of MUSHROOMS! FUNGI! This reminded me of Jesus teaching on the cleaning of dishes to keep contaminated material from the mouths of the religious.

Matthew, Chapter 15 records Jesus' discussion about the clean dishes. You will recall that the food from the dishes do not bring dishonour but rather the words spoken by the mouth which come from an iniquitous heart. He also recorded two statements, "Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none I effect by your tradition of men" and "But in vein do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of I men." Now, I do not know if they were eating mushrooms at that time but I do know it was Caesar's favorite dish, so it may have acquired a popularity.

This incident took me all the way back to Noah's time when evil prevailed. Genesis 6: 5 states, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that EVERY imagination of his heart was only evil continually."  Does  this  remind you of our condition to-day? Think of all the "new" inventions of things like the internet. Is it not the greatest tool in the modern man's chest of devices for committing ALL sorts of evil? What about nuclear energy? Did man not first devise the nuclear bomb before applying the device to peaceful uses?

Did we have an internet before? I do not know. In Howard Rand's publication "Primogenesis" the forward refers to the layer of green grass produced by the nuclear explosions in the Nevada desert. Rand went on to say that under nine layers of Troy a layer of green grass was found by the archaeologists. Interesting? It is common belief that we do not have the technology available to build the great pyramid to-day. So the ancients had knowledge that we do not have now.

There is nothing new under the sun.

We know that we are surrounded by a cloak of evil that enters every aspect of our living. Satan is able to use every device to evil pursuits.

So, on this Jewish wedding, they followed every rule set down by the Rabbi, but by breaking the rules of Moses they offended God. Back in 2006 or 2007, I was hospitalized for one week because I was poisoned by mushrooms in a restaurant. At that time I took an oath to live by the Bible diet. I have not had a sick day since.

Jesus said, "If you love me, keep My commandments." Is
