WHAT IS THE TRUTH? A TIMELESS MESSAGE!

A  TIMELESS  MESSAGE,  FOR  ALL TIMES

WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

Now that question can be said with sarcasm in the voice, as if with a sneer truth cannot be known. Then it can be asked with a sincere questoning mind, a mind that wants to really know the truth.

If you know there is a God, if you believe there is a God; if you believe Jesus is His Son, then you will believe what Jesus said, namely: "Thy (the Father) WORD is TRUTH" (John 17:17).

The Eternal God created the universe; He sustains it; so it should be no large step to then believe that if He can do all that, He can inspire His word to be written down and preserved for all mankind to read, and at least for some to act upon and obey; those who will humble themselves under His loving and merciful hands.

It is interesting to see what people have written about the subject of "truth."

"He who begins to loving Christianity better than truth will proceed by loving his own sect or church better than Christianity, and end in loving himself better than all." - Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Wow indeed what truth is in what you have just read. And it has been the downfall of many church leaders and elders and shocking as it may seem HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of people around the world.

There are countless persons that have changed "truth" for a sect or church group, and so ultimately for themselves, because they become truth to themselves. They have brain-washed their minds to be "un-corrected" - to be "set-in-their-ways" - to be "a law unto themselves" or simply put they no longer desire to seek truth, to love truth, to search for truth. They have come to the mind-set where they will not accept correction, even if it bit them on the nose, or they stumbled over it and fell flat on their face. They have the mind-set of loving themselves better than all.

"Truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it." - Flannery O'Connor

Truth is not always easy to stomach, it can turn the stomach, it can be un-pleasant to stomach as they say. It can hurt, it can sicken you, it can embarrass you. And because truth is always truth it never changes no matter how we may deceive ourselves in wanting it to change or denying it. God's word which is truth will last forever, the heavens and earth as we know it will change, parts of the universe will change, but God's truth will always remain. His word will remain forever.

"Hard are the ways of truth, and rough to walk." - John Milton

Yes truth is not always easy; we have seen it is not always easy to stomach; and indeed often less easier to walk and live. It takes courage, determination, a strong heart and mind-set to actually live the truth of God. Jesus did say, "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Mat.4:4). Are you prepared to read from Genesis to Revelation and see how you can apply all of God's word in your life. I have written a two-part study called "Living by every word of God - How?" It will help you find and live truth.

"I never give 'em hell. I just tell them the truth, and they think it is hell." - Harry S. Truman

Some people do not like to hear truth. It can anger some. It can make many feel uncomfortable. It can rub some the wrong way. It can make them feel uneasy.

You will have to be willing to annalize your attitude of mind towards truth.

"Truth does not blush." - Tertullian

When you have accepted truth you are not embarrassed or ashamed of it. You are willing to stand firm upon it, and not blush.

"A man can't always be defending the truth; there must be a time to feed upon it." - C.S. Lewis

Head knowledge can puff up, make you "big-headed" as we say, but just head-knowledge means nothing by itself if never acted upon. After you have a truth you must feed on it, which means you put it into practice in your life. In other words truth is life changing.

"You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you mad!" - Adous Huxley

Oh I well remember as a young man of 19 being challenged with things I'd never heard before in Christian theology. I was months studying and meditating, together with prayer. When I fully realized I had discovered truth I was MAD at a Christianity that had deceived me form  age  7  to  19.. Truth - admitting it can make you angry and mad at the deception all around us.

"It's better not to know so much than to know so many things that ain't so." - John Bartlett

Yes a little truth and living it, is much better than knowing all kinds of things that just ain't so. God most of the time never gives us all the truth, but a little and then a little more. If we accept it, after proving it, then we are given more truth. Peter was inspired to say we are to grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. As we are willing to grow into truth the Father gives us more. And so it should go to the day we die. Sometimes truth is accademic., i.e. Sunday is the first day of the week and not the seventh. Then sometimes truth is life changing., i.e. Now it is the 7th day of the week that is the Sabbath and commanded to be kept holy, if not you are sinning.

"To walk in the truth is more than to give accent to it. It means to apply it to one's behavior. He who "walks in the truth" is an intergrated Christian in whom there is no dichotomy between profession and practice. On the contrary, there is in him an exact correspondence between his creed and his conduct. Such conformity of life to the truth on the part of his children brought John greater joy than anything else. To him truth mattered." - Insight into the Epistles of John - John R.W.Scott

And that is the bottom line. Truth IS the WORD of God, and the word of God is to be read and ACTED UPON.

ON my website you have study after study that you should be checked with your Bible. As you do so you should find many truths that you never had before.

I pray you will LOVE the truth, for in so doing you will find eternal life.

Keith Hunt - during the Feast of Tabernacles 2012.
