Yes, for most of you in the USA, this was REALLY the "Mr.Guitar" man - forget about Les Paul, Chet Akins, Roy Clark, Eric Clapton, ACDC, and ALL the other guitar players, BERT was the most versatile guitar player this world has ever known.
He was the FIRST Super-star rock'n roll guitar player. He played just about anything right down to smooth love songs to classical. He made the guitar sing with his love songs.
But to the SHAME of the USA they never heard of him, never played his music, and was never mentioned in any of the USA "guitar personality" books I've seen over the last two decades.

Bert died April 20th 2012 - he was 91. Born the same year as my Dad - 1920. My Dad is still alive. Bert had a long life and a wonderful career.
He was the ONLY guitarist to have his own weekly TV show, that ran for 5 years. Now you have to be some magic versatile guitar player to be given a TV show.....yes mighty talented and just a real nice guy.
