Sad news.....friend dies

Last night, about 1 am of the 26th I received a phone call from Calgary. The lady that owned the Music School I taught for over the last 10 years - Michelle, 45 years old - had DIED in hospital.

It is very sad indeed as 3 years ago she was a healthy vibrant lady, full of life, love, friendliness, and talent as a piano teacher.

But life began to bear down on her....a poor marriage, no children, and all of her friends I guess (I was one of them) were not enough to keep her from becoming an alcoholic. It started with wine, but eventually moved to the hard liquor.

I tried to talk to her about the problem she was in, so did a few others. Even the Community Center where the Music School was situated had to enter the picture for parents could smell alcohol on her breath as she was teaching. The Com Center told her she had to seek help....she did and seemed for a while to get her life back in order. But then she slipped back into alcohol.

The Com.Center did not renew her contract. She was teaching at home from last September. I talked to her about 3 or 4 times on the phone since September. A mutual friend we had told me she had quit alcohol as a blood test in the hospital revealed such destruction, they told her she had only about one month to live.

But the damage had been done.....a blood infection took hold; was admitted to hospital last Friday the 21st.  Her kidneys had shut down, her liver was toast (if she lived it would be a liver transplant for sure).

Last night on December 25th at 10:10 pm  Michelle  died!

SO SAD, SO SAD.  WHAT  THE  HORROR  THAT  CAN  HAPPEN  IF  YOU  BECOME  DRUGGED  ON  ALCOHOL.  MICHELLE  AT  AGE  45  DEAD  FROM  ALCOHOL ABUSE.

ALL  OF  HER  FRIENDS  AND  LOVED  ONES  ARE  IN  SHOCK,  MANY  OF  THEM  NOT  KNOWNING  SHE  HAD  BECOME  AN   ALCOHOLIC.

SOME  OF  US  WHO  KNEW  ARE  NOW  THINKING  WE  SHOUD  HAVE  BEEN  MORE  OPEN  AND  EVEN  MORE  TOUGH  WITH  HER  ABOUT  THE  PROBLEM  OVER  THE  LAST  TWO  YEARS.

SO  ALL  I  CAN  SAY  IS  IF  YOU  KNOW  SOMEONE  WITH  AN  ALCOHOL  PROBLEM  YOU  NEED  TO  DO  ALL  AND  EVERYTHING  YOU  CAN  TO  TRY  AND  GET  THROUGH  TO  THEM  THE  DANGER  THEY  ARE  IN.

AND  OF  COURSE  IF  YOU  DRINK  ALCOHOL  MAKE  SURE  IT  IS  ALWAYS  IN  GREAT  MODERATION........LET ME  SAY  IT  AGAIN.......GREAT  MODERATION!!
