The Passover cometh!!

In this Roman year of 2011 we are today in the 1st month of God's spiritual calendar - the month that the Jews came to call Nisan. It is Friday evening as I write, or the evening of the weekly Sabbath. On Sunday evening at sunset, starts the 14th day of the first month - the Passover day as recorded in Exodus 12.

I've proved in studies on my website that Jesus DID partake of the PASSOVER, which correctly was at the BEGINNING of the 14th day of the first month of the sacred calendar.

This year this 14th evening will be Sunday evening at sunset. On the Roman calendar this is April 17th.

And as Exodus 12 shows it is indeed a night to be much observed. It was originally the night when death came to the firstborn of the families of the Egyptians, the Israelites being saved from death because they were under the blood of the lamb, that had been slain that evening, and its blood put on the side and head posts of the door to the home.

It does not take a degree in theology for most people who call themselves "Christian" to see the clear symbolism - the blood of the lamb (and the NT says Jesus was the Lamb of God) saved people from death.

At the last Passover Jesus observed (see the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke) with His disciples, during that Passover evening, He introduced the New Testament Passover service. One that is much simpler than the old Passover; being three basic ordinances - foot washing - unleavened bread - the fruit of the vine (wine of grape juice).

In the apostle Paul's writing of 1 Corinthians 11 we are told to examine ourselves, then partake of the Passover symbols.

This Feast of the Lord, and it is a festival (see Leviticus 23), is the most serious and meditating feast of all the festivals of the Lord. We think and read about the death of our Savior for our sins; we really stop and admit in a kind of special way, that we are sinners (while in the flesh we do still sin at times) ; we may like to read 1 John chapters 1 and 2. We spend a longer than usual evening, into the night (as it is a night to be much observed), reading and meditating on the very reason for the coming of the Messiah in the flesh - Immanuel - God with us. It is all to do with sin sacrifice. The Messiah was to come the first time to earth as an anointed one that would be the Lamb of God, to shed His blood, so we who accept Him as our personal Savior, can be saved from death, the second eternal death, from which there is no resurrection to life, eternally gone from the universe. "Life, Death, and Resurrection," is all covered on my website under that very title.

So on this coming Sunday evening there is much you can study, meditate on, and read, yes into the wee hours of the night.

It is and should be from sunset, hours spent away from the world; time to leave off watching the news; just leave off the TV and radio period. It's time to spend with the Father and the Son, with the Bible, with meditation on life, death, and resurrection. It's time to really once more understand the SALVATION of the Eternal God.
Maybe after the specific Passover hours have gone, and the night is well under way, you might want to study my study called "Saved by Grace." Well just a thought for some of you. Very few people who call themselves "Christian" really understand what the New Testament teaches on being saved by grace. Millions think they know.......but do they really?

The Passover night is a very special night; it is indeed a night to be much observed.

Whether it is your first Passover night or your 50th plus, or anywhere in-between,  I pray it will be a wonderful blessing to you.
