Morning Glory - WW1 horse.

On the CBC tonight (13th November) they told us in pictures and film, about Mr. Baker (in Canadian Parliament at age 38), volunteered for WW1 to encourage others to do the same. He was accepted and brought with him his horse, Morning Glory. A beautiful Mare. One horse of 100,000 from Canada to go to Europe in WW1. His horse was given to another Canadian group, but Baker looked forward to the day he would have her back. Sad, he was killed in the war, but his horse survived, and came back to Quebec (her home with Baker) to live out the rest of her life.

The present people who have the property showed us the burial place and plaque and words, to honor this war horse. They also have a picture of her in her prime - very fine - 4 white stockings on her legs, beautiful looking horse.

YES THE RECENT POPULAR MOVIE AROUND THE WORLD WAS "WAR HORSE" - A FICTIONAL STORY BUT BASED UPON THE FACTS OF HISTORY, AS HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF HORSES SERVED IN WW1.

THEY OPENLY SAY THAT THE HORSE WAS ABSOLUTELY A PART OF WHY BRITAIN AND HER ALLIES  WON THAT WW1.

IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE "WAR HORSE" THEN PUT IT ON YOUR LIST OF MOVIES TO WATCH - VERY FINE - TOUCHING, HEART-BREAKING, BUT ALSO  INSPIRING.
