Do you still remember President Obama's promise 4 years ago .... put people back to work, get America working again.
Wellll....SOME jobs have been put back in the last 4 years, but in the overall of everything, not that many, when un-employment is still near enough 8 percent.
Now with the destruction caused by super-storm Sandy you would have thought (maybe it just got put to one side for the election - looking on the positive side) the White House would have said....WOW, we have all kinds of work for all kinds of people and for all kinds of trades.....building back what Sandy blew apart and away.
Now it seems with the latest Nor-Easter hitting New York and area and more damage coming, the salt is getting rubbed into the wound. As if to say.... Okay give you some more for even more jobs and people you can put back to work.
I would think, that before this week is out you'd hear all kinds of talk, but just not talk (but action), and all kinds of people (skilled/trades) being sent, or asked by the USA Government, to go and build back what Sandy blew apart...... a kind of invasion of people, back to work people, heading for New York city and area.
Now from the past 4 years, don't hold your breath it will happen.
Of course one argument will no doubt be, "We don't have enough skilled trades people for an invasion on New York city."
Hummm.....so you'd think that argument would bring the response of "Well we better offer people the chance to be trained in the skills needed."And that you would think would mean more "training schools opening up." Now you'd have people employed to train, more being trained in building trade skills. Hence a ripple effect for jobs after a super-storm like Sandy and this Nor-Easter striking.
You'd think this would be logic, right? Well it should be logic.......BUT, and here's the big BUT ..... it seems the the USA Government/Obama included, either does not think logically, or they are still in dream land, dreaming about getting people back to work, but it is really just a dream for they are really still in bed sleeping.
It would just seem to me that now the election is over, you'd have President Obama on National Primetime TV asking for skilled trades people to work in New York and area, or telling the nation they are going to open up more trade schools so more can learn the building trade and so more will get back to work. And with that comes a certain amount of "office" workers needed to do all that office workers do when there is a building boom, as New York and area so desperately need - a building boom.
Thousands - tens of thousands - are without homes to go back to; thousands or maybe still a million people have no power - no lights, no heat!
Well Obama bailed out the car industry (except for Ford, who needed no bail-out money) and it is on top again, and paid back I think most of the bail-out money. Sooooo.......will we see a massive bail-out for New York and area and thousands of jobs opened up, to get more back to work?
TIME WILL TELL, BUT DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH WAITING FOR IT......LET'S SEE IF OBAMA OPENLY TALKS ABOUT IT TO THE USA NATION, IN THE NEXT WEEK, OR TWO, OR THREE!!
ALSO. Four years ago there was talk about getting people back to work rebuilding roads, bridges, and etc.
So my question to you is: "Have you in your part of the USA, seen jobs created in a direct way to build or re-do roads, bridges [that are in real need of repair] etc. - in a direct way, as an effort to bring about Obama's directive ..... to get people back to work? If you have I would like to know, my email is on this blog......so let me know. Or/and let me know if you know of any business (new or old) that has been helped in a direct way by the Feds from Obama's desire and specific plan to "get America working again." Let me know if you know or have heard from a friend something like where the Feds came to someone and said, "We are from Obama's department of 'Get America Back to Work' and we are going to help you with money to start a business or improve your business so you can employ fellow Americans, and help get America back to work."
Yes Obama is a fine "orator" and he proved that point again last night with his victory speech.
BUT YOU KNOW AS THEY SAY, "TALK IS CHEAP" - I GUESS THE NEXT FOUR YEARS WILL SHOW IF BARACK OBAMA CAN PUT ACTION BEHIND GLOSSY RHETORIC.
