FIRST, I cannot fully recommend this movie, as there is just too much profanity and the "f" word in it for Christians.
I did go to see it not knowing the above.
It is also very violent.
NOW with all that said, it is a movie that shows HOW VIOLENT parts of history have been in the 20th century in the USA. The USA has been and still is, in many ways a product (from its break with Britain) of VIOLET nation here and there; and very crazy violent people have risen in the world of EVIL that has been in the USA.
This movie shows you a part of that violent gangster guys, who would do anything to gain their vain ego of selfishness, power and greed.
The movie does give you from a human point of view the appreciation that some men would go after the mad ruthless mob fellows, putting their life in second place, to bringing down the horrible bad guys.
And in this part of USA history, we are clearly shown some very brave, ruthless as the mobs are ruthless, men, who cleaned up Los Angels, from this one evil guy and his clones. It is quite remarkable that most of the good guys lived through it all.
Probably Hollywood dramatized it beyond what really happened, but I'm sure ruthless violence did happen on both sides - the evil guys and the good guys.
It is based on a true story.
It reminds me of the days of Wyatt Earp (Kevin Costner movie - very fine by the way on the life of this great law man) .... in that the main hero LIVED, in the case of Earp they say at the end of the movie, he was never wounded or even grazed by a bullet - quite remarkable really.
So from a human secular point of view, it is wonderful we have people who will if it be so, lay down their lives to take out the crazy evil bad guys, so the rest of us can live with less evil in our nations.
