- From Mercola.com
- How well you can sit and rise from the floor, without using assistance form your hands, knees or other body parts, may predict your risk of dying prematurely in the next six years.
- Those who scored the lowest, requiring the most assistance to sit and rise from the floor, were 6.5 times more likely to die during the study period than those who scored the highest.
- The “sitting-rising test” measures your fitness at the most basic level, testing not only muscular strength but also flexibility, balance and motor coordination. All of these attributes are essential for day-to-day living, and for maintaining your independence as you age.
- You can extend not only the quantity of your years, but also the quality, by making a few simple changes to your lifestyle, involving diet, exercise, stress reduction and more.

WELLLLLL........IF I EVER DISAGREED WITH MERCOLA IT IS ON THIS ONE!!!
THIS IDEA IS ABOUT AS STUPID AS IT GETS. MY DAD COULD NOT DO THIS FROM ABOUT AGE 40 OR LESS.......MY DAD IS NOW 92 AND STILL ALIVE!!
THERE IS A LOT MORE TO DO WITH STAYING YOUNG THAN BEING ABLE TO DO THIS CIRCUS STAND.
I'D BET THAT SOME WHO CAN DO THIS SIT-STAND SAY AT AGE 40 COULD NOT DO THE MANY OTHER THINGS I CAN DO AT MY AGE OF 71 IN SEPTEMBER.
IT'S REALLY LAUGHABLE TO TRY AND SAY YOU CAN PROVE LONGEVITY BY SUCH A SIT-STAND.
LET'S SUPPOSE YOU ARE 30 YEAR OLD AND CANNOT DO IT...... DOES THAT MEAN YOU HAVE A HIGHER RISK OF DYING IN THE 6 YEARS TO FOLLOW, THAN SOMEONE AT 30 WHO CAN DO IT? CRAZY THINKING.
IT'S LIKE ME WHO WAS VERY FAST IN RUNNING THE 100 YARD DASH IN HIGH-SCHOOL AND AT AGE 30, SAYING IF YOU COULD NOT DO IT BUT 2/3rd OF MY TIME YOU WOULD BE AT RISK MORE THAN ME, IN THE NEXT 6 YEARS TO DIE. CRAZY REASONING!
THERE'S A LOT MORE TO LIVING LONG THAN BEING ABLE TO DO THIS STUNT ABOVE.
